Your Drug Plan Coverage
All registered full-time, post secondary students are automatically enrolled in the FSU Health Plan. This plan covers most prescription drugs and accident benefits. Some benefits of this plan include:
- Full academic year coverage (September to August 31st)
- Student card may be used as a pay-direct drug card (accepted at most pharmacies across Canada)
- Opt-in provision for dependent coverage (within first 10 days of classes)
Drug Plan:
80% coverage to a maximum of $2000.00 per Insured, per policy year, for expenses for:
- Most prescription drugs or medicines
- Insulin injectables
- Insulin supplies which include syringes, needles and diagnostic test strips, including
glucometers, alcohol swabs and lancets, subject to a maximum of $500.00 per Insured per policy year (pseudo din # 910333 must be used for all diabetic supplies) - Allergy serums
- Oral, injectable and the patch (contraceptives)
- The Nuva Ring (contraceptive), subject to a maximum of $178.00 per Insured, per policy year.
Exclusion:
- Over-the-counter products, or medicines available without a prescription
- Fertility drugs
- Erectile dysfunction drugs
- Male pattern baldness remedies
- Contraceptives, other than oral, injectable or the patch
- Oral vitamins and injectable vitamins that are non-prescription
- Anti-smoking remedies (nicorette gum, patches or similar products)
- Drugs, hormones, products and injections for the treatment of obesity
- Infant formula, dietary foods and aids including salt and sugar substitutes
- First-aid and surgical supplies, atomizers and vaporizers
- Drugs which are experimental in nature, diagnostic aids and laboratory tests
- Preventative vaccines, including Hepatitis B
- Sclerosing agents
- All acne preparations including Accutane
